EFFECTIVE MAY 1,2017 THE ROBERT C JACKSON RECYCLING CENTER WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.
Recycle Centers Closing
Steve Dixon the CEO of Spectra Group announced today, April 5, 2017 that their free public Recycling Centers in Blount County will be closed. Some of the satellite sites are being closed now but all will be closed by May 1, 2017.
Spectra has provided Blount County citizens with free recycling for seventeen years. Spectra has not charged the public for the service nor received any government subsidies.
It has been our way of giving back to our community.
Due to resent action by Blount County, market prices, taxes, insurance, disposal and other cost, we have decided that it is in our best interest to focus on our core business. The sites collected post-consumer plastic, paper, cardboard and materials.
Spectra will continue to provide recycling and other services to area businesses for a fee. We are just closing our free public Recycling Centers. We do intend to close our major Public Recycling Center (R. C. Jackson). THE ROBERT C. JACKSON RECYCLING CENTER WILL CLOSE ON MONDAY, MAY 1, 2017.
The State of Tennessee mandates that local government have a recycling site available.
We assume the county will be providing this service at another location.
For more information about recycling in Blount County; you could contact your county commissioner or:
Ed Mitchell – County Mayor – 865-273-5700 firstname.lastname@example.org
Spectra will still be active in providing other environmental services to businesses.
Thanks for Recycling!
